Inspired by their engagement at Versailles and the rich baroque architecture of Valletta, Ricky and Braxton dreamed of a celebration that would feel regal, cultural, and meaningful. They found their perfect setting in Palazzo Parisio, a historic Maltese palace once home to Napoleon. Known as a “miniature Versailles,” it was the ideal backdrop for their vision of Maltese grandeur infused with personal significance.

But before their Maltese Versailles came to life, their story began in a much simpler place—a law classroom. “Ricky was my lecturer and I was his student,” Braxton shared. “As a mature student, I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with my teacher. But the moment I walked into his classroom and locked eyes with him, we both knew we were in trouble.” After graduation, she mustered the courage to slip him a note disguised as a thank-you card, asking him to meet her at the Laing Art Gallery. There, in front of John Martin’s The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, they shared their first date and first kiss. Setting in motion the story that would lead to their Palazzo Parisio wedding.

What We Love About This Palazzo Parisio Wedding

  • A “Maltese Versailles” theme inspired by their proposal in France
  • Red-and-white palette symbolizing the Maltese flag
  • Personal vows inspired by Wuthering Heights and Romeo and Juliet
  • Cultural fusion through Maltese dancers, Indian dhol drummers, and live statues

Choosing Malta for Its Uniqueness and Character

When they started planning in October 2024, Ricky and Braxton wanted a destination that offered something completely new for their guests. “We chose Malta because of its uniqueness, knowing most of our guests had never visited,” they explained. “That way, everyone could experience not only our wedding but a new culture too.”

They were drawn to Palazzo Parisio for its mix of history and opulence. Its gilded interiors, mirrored salons, and neoclassical gardens captured exactly what they wanted to bring to life. A wedding that merged Maltese architecture, red-and-white symbolism, and the refinement of Versailles.

With Ricky’s own company, RickyHandaEvents, leading the design and logistics, the pair created a striking red-and-white color palette inspired by the Maltese flag. “We wanted everything—from the florals to the drapery—to reflect Malta’s colors,” they shared. The entrance to the gardens was draped in red satin, the courtyard covered in a red carpet sprinkled with white confetti, and chandeliers and uplighting gave the evening a royal glow.

A Regal Look Inspired by Versailles

Braxton’s bridal look was designed to feel timeless and dramatic. She wore a cathedral-length Galia Lahav opera gown featuring a Basque waistline, intricate lacework, and a romantic silhouette. “It was the first dress I tried on, and I immediately knew it was the one,” she said. She paired the gown with sapphire jewelry, a simple veil, and a classic red lip. “I’ve always loved vintage style, so the red lip and cat eyeliner were non-negotiable.”

The groom matched her elegance in a burgundy three-piece suit with gold details, a choice that echoed the Maltese color theme. The bridesmaids wore form-fitting silk burgundy dresses with diamond tiaras, while the groomsmen kept to traditional black tuxedos. “We wanted the look to be cohesive but not overdone. The red and white weren’t just for aesthetics. They were symbolic of Malta, unity, and our cultures coming together.”

A Ceremony Filled With Emotion and Symbolism

The morning began with calm excitement as Braxton prepared in the palace’s ornate suites. Her first look with her father was one of the day’s most emotional moments. “We both cried the moment we saw each other. It was the first time we truly realized I was leaving home.”

Their ceremony at Palazzo Parisio reflected both their personalities and beliefs. “There wasn’t a single dry eye in the room,” Braxton said. The couple wrote their own vows, drawing inspiration from literature—Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. “Our vows told the story of our journey from the classroom to the altar. It felt deeply personal and true to us.”

After the ceremony, they exited to a confetti toss set to Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan. A song that unexpectedly became a favorite among their older guests.

Cultural Details That Made the Day Unforgettable

Ricky and Braxton wanted their wedding to be as much an experience for their guests as it was a reflection of their story. Local Maltese vendors helped them bring that vision to life, with The Malta Florists incorporating red and white florals alongside Asian blooms to honor their Vietnamese and Indian roots.

“Malta may be small, but once you start meeting people, you realize how connected the industry is. We researched every vendor carefully and built relationships before booking. That trust made the day run perfectly.”

Guests were treated to live Maltese dancers performing to folk music, followed by the deep beats of Indian dhol drums, creating a vibrant soundscape that fused both heritages. The reception courtyard glowed with red uplighting and Roman-style live statues, while guests dined under chandeliers and toasted the couple’s fusion of cultures.

One of the most memorable highlights was their theatrical first dance to A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. “It made everyone laugh and set the tone for the rest of the night.” The evening ended with surprise fireworks and sparklers that lit up the Maltese sky above Palazzo Parisio.

How Their Experience Shaped Their Advice to Other Couples

For Ricky and Braxton, the key to a seamless destination wedding was teamwork and trust. “If possible, work with local vendors. They know the island, and once you build a relationship, everything becomes effortless.”

They also recommend traveling with guests to set the tone early. “We flew with everyone to Malta. It was such a fun way to break the ice,” Braxton shared. “By the time we landed, it already felt like a shared experience.”

Most importantly, they emphasized designing a wedding that reflects who you are. “We were raised in households where marriage was often about duty. But for us, it became an active choice, to love each other before God and to celebrate that choice openly. Every detail of our day reflected that freedom and intention.”

On a snowy day, Meera and Ross had their first date—a dog walk and a film that almost didn’t happen when Meera’s car got stuck in the snow. She grabbed a taxi, and the effort paid off. That easy, natural start set the tone for a relationship built on travel, food adventures, and long hikes. Ross, the planner, and Meera, the more go-with-the-flow partner, balanced each other perfectly.

As their relationship grew, they dreamed of a celebration that reflected both of their cultures. The result was a two-day Scottish Indian wedding at Achnagairn Castle in Inverness. With guests flying in from around the globe, they designed a weekend that felt immersive and true to their story.

What We Love About This Scottish Indian Wedding

  • A two-day celebration blending Indian and Scottish traditions
  • Achnagairn Castle’s exclusive-use setting with space for all their guests
  • Deeply personal wedding fashion, from heirloom bangles to a modern silk gown
  • Favors sourced from both India and the Scottish Highlands
  • A focus on food, florals, and unforgettable entertainment

Personal Details That Made Getting Ready Meaningful

The morning began quietly inside the castle. Ross dressed in a custom ivory sherwani with matching embroidered shoes. “He wowed,” Meera said, “and received just as many compliments as the bride.”

Meera got ready with her mother and bridesmaids, wearing a stone-colored lehenga by Seema Gujral and heirloom bangles passed down through her family. Her look was completed with natural, radiant makeup and jewelry that included a mangal sutra gifted during the ceremony.

Blending Tradition and Nature in the Castle Gardens

That afternoon, the castle gardens transformed into a celebration of tradition and nature. The aisle led to a Mandap draped in greenery and pink florals, where the couple exchanged vows.

The ceremony began with the sounding of a conch and live sitar, flute, and tabla music. Guests rang brass bells, children tossed petals, and everyone joined in chanting mantras. “We wanted emotion to come through the joy from the sound of the trees in the wind, the music playing, the children running about, and guests enjoying themselves,” Meera shared.

Celebrating With Food, Dancing, and Endless Energy

The Indian reception carried the same joyful spirit as the ceremony but with an even greater sense of celebration. Guests enjoyed a spread of flavorful Indian dishes before the music pulled everyone to the dance floor. Drummers set the rhythm as the tent filled with laughter, color, and nonstop energy.

Meera’s cousins, led by a Zumba instructor, choreographed a last-minute dance routine via WhatsApp. Ross and his groomsmen also performed an Indian dance after renting studio space to practice. “I’m not quite sure they were all moving in the right direction, but it added to the charm.” Later, Ross disappeared into the crowd—only to reappear with a karaoke set, keeping the energy alive until the very end.

Preparing for the Scottish Ceremony With Family

The second day began with calm anticipation inside the castle. Meera got ready alongside her bridesmaids, wearing a silk Katherine Tash gown with an asymmetric neckline and overskirt, later swapped for a sleeker evening version. Her natural makeup and simple accessories highlighted the elegance of the dress. Bridesmaids and her mother wore pink gowns in shades that suited them, ensuring everyone felt confident and beautiful.

Ross prepared with his groomsmen in traditional kilts with thistle buttonholes, honoring his Scottish heritage. Both shared first looks with their parents instead of each other, saving their tears for the aisle.

Romance, Candlelight, and a Fairytale Setting

The castle’s grand hall set the stage for the second day of celebrations. Ivory blooms lined the aisle, chandeliers cast a warm glow, and a roaring fireplace framed the altar, creating a Beauty-and-the-Beast-inspired atmosphere. Gold accents and tall candelabras added to the regal feel.

Meera walked down the aisle to a live harp rendition of Odesza’s “A Moment Apart,” a surprise gift for Ross. Later, their first dance to “Higher Ground” nodded to seeing Odesza live at Madison Square Garden. A full-circle moment for them both. “This was our royal moment,” Meera shared.

A Regal Celebration with a Welcoming Spirit

For the reception, the castle’s hall was transformed into a candlelit dining space. Long banquet tables were lined with ivory florals, gold accents, and tall candelabras, casting a warm glow against the wood-paneled walls. Personalized place settings added thoughtful detail to every seat.

Guests gathered under strings of lights, raising glasses in celebration as heartfelt speeches filled the room. The setting struck the perfect balance between regal and inviting, an elegant continuation of the day’s fairytale ceremony.

Smart Budget Choices and Lasting Advice

To balance their budget, the couple splurged on food, flowers, and drinks while saving on stationery, signage, and accessories. They opted for online invites, thrifted antique mirrors, and high-street shoes.

Looking back, Meera advises couples to keep their planning circle small. “More opinions can overcomplicate things. I planned with my mum (and my husband, sort of) and kept most details quiet, it was the best surprise.” Her final takeaway: focus on what reflects you as a couple. “This weekend was about celebrating our love in the Scottish Highlands, our favorite place in the world. That’s what made it unforgettable.”

When Admire and Toya first met in an Intensive Care unit in California, what began as polite greetings quickly bloomed into something unexpected. “Something felt different,” they recall. Quiet walks, coffee dates, shared books, and finally, a proposal on Valentine’s Day at their favorite Napa Valley restaurant, Auberge du Soleil—set the tone for the journey to their White Swan Castle wedding.

From the start, they knew their special day would be about more than just the two of them. It would be about family, history, and shared milestones. With loved ones traveling from across the U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, and the UK—many meeting for the first time—the celebration became a meaningful reminder of how love brings people together, across cultures and generations.

What We Love About White Swan Castle This Wedding

  • A stunning castle backdrop that elevated both the ceremony and reception without overpowering the intimacy of the day
  • Intimate guest list under 100, allowing for genuine connections and heartfelt moments.
  • Intentional photography that captured not just the beauty, but the emotional weight and quiet moments throughout

Choosing a Venue That Set the Tone for the Day

Admire and Toya knew they wanted a wedding that felt magical, meaningful, and elegant. From the moment they arrived at White Swan Castle, they knew they had found the perfect place. “The grandeur of the venue took our breath away,” they shared. “The castle itself seemed straight out of a fairytale.”

the setting had a sense of timeless romance that shaped the entire celebration. Every corner felt intentional—from the castle exterior to the interior decor—making it an unforgettable backdrop for their intimate day of under 100 guests.

An Elegant Ceremony in Front of the Castle

Admire and Toya exchanged vows on the steps of White Swan Castle, with its striking white stone exterior and ornate golden doors as their backdrop. Rows of white chairs faced the front of the castle, where floral arrangements in soft white tones framed the entrance and lined the aisle, adding a touch of softness to the dramatic architecture.

The tone of the ceremony was warm and personal. Their pastor, who knew them well, brought a sense of familiarity that helped everyone settle in. A few quiet laughs and emotional glances between the couple made the moment feel honest and present. It was simple, heartfelt, and exactly the kind of atmosphere they had hoped for.

Working With a Planner Who Understood Their Vision

When it came to the planning process, Admire and Toya credit their planner, Andrey Kazak, for making everything feel easy and enjoyable. “He was instrumental in bringing our vision to life,” they said. From vendor sourcing to timeline coordination, Andrey took the lead on every detail and even served as host during the reception, making guests feel welcomed and cared for.

“Our wedding planner was the glue that held it all together,” the couple emphasized. “He allowed us to focus on enjoying the day, knowing everything was taken care of.”

Building a Vendor Team That Made It All Possible

Admire and Toya were intentional about choosing vendors who aligned with their values and vision. One of their top priorities? Finding the right photographer. “Pastushak Photography didn’t just take stunning pictures—they captured the raw emotion, the little moments, and the beauty of the day in ways we couldn’t have imagined.”

Their officiant—also their pastor—brought deep spiritual meaning to the ceremony. The DJ kept the energy high, the bartender ensured everyone was having a good time, and the decorator transformed White Swan Castle into a warm, inviting space. “Each vendor played a part in making our wedding feel as unique and special as our love story,” they shared.

Designing a Reception That Felt Warm and Welcoming

After the ceremony, guests moved indoors for the reception—held inside White Swan Castle’s bright, spacious hall with high arched ceilings and soft, natural light pouring through tall windows. Admire and Toya made their entrance hand-in-hand to cheers and applause, greeted by a room full of smiling faces and raised glasses.

The space was styled with white floral arrangements and gold accents, adding polish without feeling overdone. Tables were set with floating candles and soft blooms, creating a warm, welcoming setting for the evening’s celebration. The sweetheart table, surrounded by flowers, offered the couple a moment of calm to soak it all in together.

Advice for Couples Planning Their Own Fairytale

If there’s one thing Admire and Toya hope other couples take away from their experience, it’s this: surround yourself with people who will make your day feel like you.

“Before you start planning your wedding, find the right planner who can bring your vision to life, and the right photographer who will capture every meaningful moment,” they advised. “These are the people who will be by your side throughout the day, shaping the atmosphere and your experience.”

Their White Swan Castle wedding was the perfect blend of heartfelt storytelling, intentional design, and community love—and proof that fairytales really can come true.

Leah and Jordan

The Wedding:

Château de Champlâtreux, Épinay-Champlâtreux, France

The Perfect Blend of Classic Elegance and Romance at Their Château de Champlâtreux Destination Wedding

We aimed for a classic, timeless, and elegant vibe for our wedding. Our design choices were intentionally made to ensure they would always stay in style, allowing the beauty of the venue to shine. Our minimalistic and simplistic aesthetic perfectly complemented the atmosphere we envisioned. We invited our guests to dress in all black to enhance the overall vibe, creating a chic and sophisticated look. The night itself was pure magic: with clear skies, a gentle breeze, and a perfect temperature of 75 degrees, it was breathtakingly calming and genuinely everything we dreamed of. The warm glow of romantic candlelight added an enchanting touch, illuminating the evening and creating a fairytale ambiance we will never forget.

A Day Filled with Unforgettable Moments

Every moment of the day was unforgettable, from the heartfelt speeches to the emotional moment of seeing each other at the end of the aisle. Watching our guests arrive and witnessing their joyful reactions was truly special, and dancing the night away with everyone made it all the more magical. It truly was the best and most memorable day of our lives.

The Importance of Finding the Right Planner

My top wedding planning advice is to hire an amazing planner with whom you have a genuine emotional connection. Things may go awry, but sharing that bond creates a mutual understanding that you’re both on the same team, ready to tackle any challenges together. I had a clear vision for our wedding and was searching for a planner who would not only understand it, but would also be inspired by it. When I saw our planner’s eyes light up as I shared my ideas, I knew she was the perfect fit. Additionally, being organized is essential—juggling multiple tasks can be overwhelming, so having a way to stay connected with your team, like a radio in your ear, is helpful. I take immense pride in every detail of our wedding. Jordan and I dedicated over a year to planning, and seeing our vision come to life was truly special. We paid close attention to every detail, putting our heart and soul into each decision. It’s gratifying to know we brought our dream to fruition.

Maximizing Their Budget for a Dream Wedding

My main focus in planning was anticipating potential issues and having a backup plan in place. As a Virgo and a perfectionist, it was crucial for me that everything went smoothly without significant hiccups. We aimed to maximize our budget while creating our dream wedding, ensuring that our guests felt cherished. We needed to host a wedding and create an unforgettable experience for everyone. With guests traveling worldwide, we wanted to make the entire experience as easy and seamless as possible for them.

Embracing the Venue’s Natural Beauty

Our wedding planner immediately identified Château de Champlâtreux as our perfect venue. When we traveled to Paris seven months before the wedding, we braved the winter rain and ice to see it in person, and despite the weather, we instantly knew it was the one. The venue’s inherent beauty spoke for itself, which was essential since we envisioned a minimalistic design. We wanted a space that would captivate on its own. The timeless elegance of the château made it an obvious choice. Additionally, we were determined to have most of the wedding outdoors, and August typically offers ideal weather. Its convenient location near the heart of Paris, where many of our guests would be staying, made it the perfect fit. It truly checked off every box for us.

Personal Touches That Made Their Château de Champlâtreux Destination Wedding Unique

There were little personalized touches of Jordan and me everywhere. Our unique seating chart featured an envelope containing the table numbers and a customized note from Jordan and me. We wanted each guest to feel cherished and unique, and this unexpected touch brought tears, laughter, and joy. It truly added a heartfelt element to the day. In addition to the personalized seating chart with notes for our guests, we named three signature cocktails that were special to us. One was called “Wade’s World” to show love for our three-year-old golden retriever, whom we missed so much. We also had our custom logo on all the bars and the dance floor, along with custom napkins, kippahs, and matches. We wanted everything to feel very intimate and personal.

Pooja and Chris’ adventure led them to Portugal, where they were captivated by the charm of Lisbon and the Algarve. When the moment came to tie the knot, the decision was crystal clear. Opting for a stunning seaside castle—their Forte da Cruz destination wedding seamlessly blended elegance, cherished traditions, and heartfelt details.

In a picturesque corner within the historic fort, they exchanged vows against a backdrop of lush greenery. The festivities continued with a breathtaking reception on the terrace, where the  color palette drew inspiration from the blue shades of Portuguese tiles. The tablescape came alive with lush white blooms and gold accents, beautifully contrasting with the aqua-colored table covers. As the night unfolded, guests dined, danced, and reveled under the enchanting glow of twinkling lights.

This wonderful celebration brought their love story together with the natural beauty around them, making it an event you definitely don’t want to miss. You’re in for a treat when you see all the gorgeous details captured by Memorelle.

How Their Forte da Cruz Destination Wedding Came To Be

Chris and I visited Portugal in 2018 as one of our first trips together. And fell in love with the warmth and ease of Lisbon and the Algarve. When we decided to have a destination wedding, it was clear that returning to Portugal would make the most sense to celebrate our marriage and our love. I particularly wanted something on the coast with a view of the expansive ocean. Between the blues of the sea and the famed Portuguese tile, it was easy to come up with a color palette that highlighted different hues of blue. We wanted the vibe to feel relaxed but elegant so people could dress up and have fun.

Incorporating Meaningful Indian Traditions Into Their Forte da Cruz Destination Wedding Ceremony

our celebrant created a bespoke ceremony for us that incorporated Indian traditions with personal touches. We included a garland exchange and seven circles–some of the most important Indian traditions–but we also wrote our own vows to each other. We also loved String Quartet Solutions’ music background for the ceremony, including classical tracks and pop songs with a string quartet twist. It was the perfect mix of tradition and staying true to ourselves.

It was really helpful to visit our venue, meet our planner in person, and do a tasting with our caterers before the wedding. So be sure to add that to your wedding timeline and budget. You may also want to do a practice shoot with your photographers. We did not, which was still wonderful. But we loved our photographers and would have liked to spend more time with them. It’s also helpful to decide on an organizational system–whether it’s a dedicated email folder, printed-out files, or a big Excel spreadsheet–so you can keep track of your to-dos and budget.

Taking Care of Their Guests Needs Throughout their Forte da Cruz Destination Wedding Weekend

It was essential to us that our guests had a chance to enjoy themselves, so we tried to take care of them as much as possible over the wedding weekend. Adding a welcome event the night before the wedding and taking care of transportation to both the welcome event and the wedding itself helped achieve this. We’re delighted that everyone had a wonderful time at our wedding.

Il Vicolo Destination Wedding

Emily and Cullen wanted a small wedding allowing them to spend quality time with their loved ones. They had often thought about getting married in Ireland, and one night, Emily discovered the perfect venue—a stunning Italian restaurant inside 300-year-old bridge mills right on the River Corrib. It was a match made in heaven! With a sultry color palette, gorgeous florals, and a mix of traditional and modern touches—their Il Vicolo destination wedding was a beautiful combo of old-world charm and a timeless romance.

To begin their special day, the couple shared the sweetest first look at Menlo Castle, relishing in the moment’s joy as they explored the grounds together. For their outdoor ceremony, they added a touch of rustic charm with elegant floral pillars perfectly complementing the old stone walls of their venue. The transition from the ceremony to the restaurant reception was seamless, as the cozy ambiance greeted their guests. The tables were filled with luscious blooms and soft candlelight, creating a warm and dreamy atmosphere.

Junebug member Gabi & Nessa expertly planned this couple’s special day, and these images captured by The Martins Photography perfectly showcase the love and beauty that filled their wedding. As you scroll through, you’ll be treated to unique ideas and inspiration for your own intimate celebration.

Why An Il Vicolo Destination Wedding

Our wedding melded beauty and history together in one stunning location with ocean and river views on top of an award-winning food menu and stellar cocktail list. There was so much vintage charm from the building alone that it would have been perfect by itself. All of our vendors were absolutely incredible. However, we would like to give a special shout-out to the staff of Il Vicolo, who treated us like family. Evidently, they loved working together and made the evening so much fun. A team that can serve a delicious meal, mix up wonderful cocktails and still finds time to joke and laugh with everyone is a special group.

A Memorable First Look Before The Ceremony

The most memorable part of our day was our time together at Menlo Castle before the ceremony. We had our first look, then explored the grounds and estate ruins with our photographer, who cheered us on the entire time while taking the most incredible photos.

Weaving Celtic Rituals With Personal Touches At Their Il Vicolo Destination Wedding Ceremony

We worked with Dara Molloy, a Druid Priest from the Aran Islands, to fully customize our ceremony in an authentic way. He incorporated ancient Celtic rituals like handfasting with contemporary readings of our choice, which we both felt exemplified our love for each other and our promise to be partners in life.

An Unforgettable And Stress-Free Guest Experience Was A Top Priority

We wanted to ensure that we spent time with our family and friends who traveled to another country to be there for us on our wedding day. From their flights to Ireland, until they arrived home, we tried our best to ensure our guests’ experiences were as stress-free as possible. We wanted everyone to be able to relax and enjoy our time with each other while basking in the beauty of Ireland. The fact that we successfully planned a wedding in a foreign country, then coordinated a travel experience for 40 people of various ages from different cities all over the United States with no major issues was remarkable.

Junebug Planner Gabi Kmitas Brought Their Dream Wedding To Life With Her Creative Vision

Our planner and floral designer, Gabi & Nessa, took everything to the next level. We wish we could take credit for the style and design of our wedding. But all credit goes to Gabi, who created the color palette, designed place settings, and created breathtaking floral arrangements that flowed seamlessly with the restaurant’s aesthetic. Every idea she sent us during the planning process was perfect, making it easy to trust her vision for our day. Gabi and her team brought out the beauty of Ireland with a balance of light peach and moody red florals, accented by various greens, all cohesively brought together by the vintage furniture and Italian artwork of Il Vicolo paired with the history of the bridge mills.

Advice For Choosing The Right Vendor Team

The best advice we could give is to find vendors that make you excited for the day and make the planning process easy. We kept waiting for the wedding planning to become stressful, but everyone we worked with made the planning process a delight. From our planner and photographer to the Il Vicolo team, who took us on a FaceTime tour of the restaurant—we lucked out with the most amazing vendors who made planning a wedding in a foreign country a breeze. Also, send out email calendar invites to your guests. This tip is from Cullen specifically.

The Wedding:

Palacio de Fronteira, Lisbon, Portugal

Why A Palacio de Fronteira Wedding

I always had this boho wedding idea in my head. When I was 16, I used to imagine having a beach wedding. Since our families are Portuguese, we started looking for venues in Portugal. At first, we had booked a rustic spot in Sintra, but then the pandemic hit, and we had to change plans. That’s when my planner showed me Palacio de Fronteira, a historic and classic venue. I wasn’t sure about it because it didn’t fit my boho vision. But in the end, I decided to mix the two styles and go with it.

The most unforgettable moment of the day was seeing the reception and how everything came together. It was mind-blowing! I know it sounds cliché, but don’t stress about the little things seriously. What I’m particularly proud of is how flawlessly the day unfolded. I honestly can’t recall a single awkward moment. If anything, the day went by in a flash. Natasha and Alasdair’s Carlowrie Castle wedding was an absolute fairytale come to life. With all the classic elements of a timeless celebration, their big day was a feast for the eyes and the heart. From the awe-inspiring venue to the stunning arrangements and chic attire, this dreamy event had everything they could ever hope for and more.

The couple entrusted their vision of an elegant affair to a team of experts, who brought it to life with flawless execution. And what a setting they chose! Carlowrie Castle, with its 19th-century Victorian exteriors and modern, lavish interiors, was the perfect backdrop for their grand day. The Orangery–where the ceremony took place–was adorned with breathtaking floral arrangements on pillars, creating an enchanting atmosphere for their vow exchange. At the Marquee reception, lush blooms and greenery graced the tables, while the overhead installation added an ultra-romantic and whimsical touch to the space.

If you dream of a classic celebration filled with timeless details and personal touches that reflect your unique style as a couple, look no further than this Carlowrie Castle wedding for inspiration. Junebug member Ricky Baillie captured every moment of this breathtaking day, and we’ve got it all right here for you.

The Couple:

Natasha and Alasdair

The Wedding:

Carlowrie Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland

Why A Carlowrie Castle Wedding

We always knew we wanted to get married in Scotland. We saw a few places and quickly realized that we wanted a venue that was exclusive to us. Carlowrie Castle is in its own league. It is traditional with a modern twist and reflects our tastes and personalities. Carlowrie is unlike anywhere else in Scotland, and it ticked all of our boxes.

Working With Their Vendor Team To Create A Classic Wedding Day Aesthetic

After searching through Pinterest for ideas and inspiration, we realized we kept gravitating toward a classic and elegant style. Working closely with Jordana Events, we were able to create a wedding day that was unique to us, ensuring that it reflected us as individuals and that our guests had the best possible experience. We feel incredibly fortunate to have such a fantastic vendor team who helped to make our special day a success. Everything went smoothly, and we extend our thanks and gratitude to everyone who played a part in creating our unforgettable wedding day.

Crafting A Ceremony That Focused On Their Love Story

We decided to go with a Humanist ceremony so we could be totally involved in the whole ceremony, which would be unique to our story. We met with a few humanists but connected with Neil Lynch best. We met with him a few times before the wedding to ensure he knew both of us well.

Personalized Notes: A Heartfelt Gesture For Their Guests

While we didn’t offer traditional wedding favors, we did take the time to write each guest a personalized message about what they meant to us as a couple. Our guests found a note explicitly tailored to them at every place setting, describing the special place they hold in our hearts. While this may seem like a simple gesture, ensuring that each of the 137 notes was flawlessly written and punctuated took a great deal of time and effort. At one point, we even questioned why we had taken on such a daunting task. However, seeing our guests read and react to the notes made it all worth it. Some guests have even gone so far as to frame their notes as a cherished keepsake of our wedding day.
